Description
PDF OCR X Community Edition is a simple drag-and-drop utility that converts your single-page PDFs and images into text documents or searchable PDF files. It uses advanced OCR (optical character recognition) technology to extract the text of the PDF even if that text is contained in an image. This is particularly useful for dealing with PDFs that were created via a Scan-to-PDF function in a scanner or photo copier.
The Community Edition supports single-page PDFs and Images. For multi-page PDFs and batch conversion features, you can upgrade to the Enterprise Edition.
Includes support for over 60 languages including English, German, Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, and many others.

It’s satisfactory
“Pointless Garbage” is a little unfair. Sure it’s not perfect, you have to check the output and some strange characters came up. I’m not complaining about it.
Like the curate’s egg
Erratic performance on pages from a clear pdf version of a book. Sometimes a whole sentence is correctly converted, other times almost every letter of every word is wrong.
This app may work well on top quality modern typeface pdf pages, but for what I tried it would be almost as fast to copy-type documents.
I certainly wouldn’t be interested in paying for a version with more bells and whistles but the same (in)capability of converting to text.
It works with scanned PDF and JPG files
This app does a good job. It reads fast and get reasonably good results. Sometimes good good results of hand written style documents.
