Australia's original and best weather app sources its data from the only place that matters: the Bureau of Meteorology.

Built by locals right here in Australia, we've spent a lot of time refining and building the weather app we all want to use. So whether you need to check what it's going to be like this week on your phone, tablet or watch, we have you covered!

For those that love details though, we have some for you:
- Detailed weather information for every suburb in Australia
- Hourly temperature predictions 7 days into the future
- All the Bureau of Meteorology rain radars
- National synoptic chart
- Tide times (with offline download support)
- All the Bureau of Meteorology warnings for around the country
- Notification support if you want to know the weather at a particular time of day, or be notified of warnings as they occur
- Glance at the weather from the App icon badge, which you can set to show you the current temp, todays maximum and many more things
- 72 hours of historical information for each location
- Universal app: supports iPhone (including iPhone X), iPad and Apple Watch

We've worked long and hard over the years to bring you the weather and version 5 continues that legacy. As always we're open to your feedback and have even more amazing updates in the pipeline.

In the meantime, enjoy the weather!

What's New

Version 5.8.1

Just a quick minor update for you all.
- The watchOS app now requires v3.0 instead of v4.0. This is important if you're still on iOS 10, you'll be able to use the watch app again. Apologies for that, we had no idea the two were linked like that. And they say an old dog can't learn new tricks!
- Fixed a white section showing in the timeline view when in dark mode
- Fixed an issue with location services that might cause you to tap 'Nearby' and have no locations appear
- Wait who are you calling an old dog? I'm still young dammit. Roger just won the Aussie Open at age 36 and honestly I'm only a teency bit older.

My favourite weather app

There are a bunch of weather apps out there that source info from the Bureau of Meteorology. Some seem to have more info but crowd the display with fancy graphics or make it difficult to find specifics. This app is by far my favourite as far as showing all the important info in a simple fashion. Easy to tap future days for forecasts. Detailed forecasts are sometimes dependent on the town you’ve chosen. Eg if I choose my town I get simple brief forecast but if I choose the town with airport just down the road I get detailed forecast info. I think this is just dependant on BOM info.
Easy to scroll down to radar/synoptic, tides , and the graphic that you can slide horizontally to show exact weather versus time.
Excellent app!

S L O W updates to my Apple Watch

I’ve been using this weather app (paid version) exclusively since I got my first iPhone years ago.
I generally love it.
I’m supporting an Aussie app developer. And they have been fantastic with any tech support when I’ve rarely needed it.

I’ve had an Apple Watch for over 2 years and in all that time this app has NEVER updated in the background even though I have background app refresh set to “on”

It takes up to 30 seconds..30 L O N G seconds for the Watch app to update every time I open it.
Much quicker for me to dig my iPhone out of my pocket ..which completely defeats the purpose of a quick current weather/temperature check on my wrist..

I’ve stayed silent on this frustrating matter in the hopes the latest update fixes this glaring and frustrating issue.
But it still hasn’t!

I’m not prepared to wait any longer for this seemingly simple issue to be fixed, so tech support email to shifty jelly will be sent as soon as I post this review.

I used to give this locally grown weather app 5 stars.. but due to this long term issue I’ve been forced to downgrade my vote to 2 stars. It’s just so frustrating!

Why remove min and max?

Before the most recent release, the forecast min and max temperatures for the day were visible on the main page for each location. When I reordered the cards to have the observations at the top, I could see today's forecast, the current temperature, the current wind speed, the amount of rain that had fallen since 9am yesterday, and the likelihood of rain today, all in one go.

As well as being developed by Aussie developers, this was what made this app so attractive.

Now I am faced with the admittedly first world problem of having to scroll and tap to see everything I want. The value and usability of the app has plummeted for me.

I'd love to see the forecast temperatures reinstated, or, failing that, included in the options for the summary observations card; I could conceivably ditch air pressure and humidity from the summary.

Shifty Jelly is doing sterling work, but this particular change irked me enough that I got off my backside and wrote a review. As an inherently lazy person, this should mean a lot.
