AP Powershot™ is co-founded by four bright young entrepreneurial school kids who won the Australian National 2017 iAwards, and their favourite university computer scientist who is a Queensland Community Digital Champion and a CSIRO STEM professional.
The vision of AP Powershot™ is to combine technology, sports, and games to create useful Apps for measuring the speed of a kick, hit, or throw.
This is a "lite" version of the App - specifically designed for Soccer players.
The App has two useful features: 1) it helps players understand and improve their kicking technique, and 2) it allows players to estimate the speed of their kicks.
The App works by recording short videos of the Soccer ball being kicked. While recording, make sure that the ball fits just inside the targeting box. The speed calculation is done by placing two small tracking boxes over the Soccer ball in an existing recording at the desired starting frame and ending frame. The App stores the three most recent recordings.
The usability and user experience has been improved: 1) on the capture screen a flashing targeting box and a recording countdown help the app user prepare to record a kick and allow the kicker to get ready before they kick the ball; 2) on the calculate screen the targeting boxes also flash to indicate which box was last moved by the app user; and 3) a bug has been fixed regarding how the app looks on iPhoneX and iPad.

Great sporting tool
Finally my son can now measure how fast his soccer kicks are. Took a bit of fiddling to get it working but awesome results.
This app has helped me with my kick speed a lot
Firstly the app doesn’t work unless you have a tripod and a very large landscape which the camera probably couldn’t even detect the ball unless great lighting conditions which are very rare. Secondly this app copied another app powershot.
Thanks for your feedback.
Please have a look at our 30sec demo video showing how to use the current version of the app: https://youtu.be/FcKCBX5iu-E
When you use the app, it should look very similar to what you see in the demo video.
Note that the targeting box is a guide when capturing a kick - the app doesn’t require the targeting box to stay exactly around the ball.
But when calculating the speed of a kick the use of the slider control and he placement of the two targeting boxes are crucial to a good measurement.
We are working on new versions of the app that will be more useful and improve the user experience.
Up to six family members will be able to use this app with Family Sharing enabled.
