Proloquo2Go is an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) app used by people with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other diagnoses. It is available in English, Spanish, French, and Dutch for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Apple Watch.

“Users can open Proloquo2Go and begin to use it for effective communication immediately” – Susan Berkowitz, MS-SLP, AAC Consultant.

Feature highlights

• Crescendo™, a complete research-based core word vocabulary with 10,000+ fringe words

• Quickly and easily customisable – everything from the vocabulary to the appearance

• Designed for a range of fine-motor and visual skills with options like 23 pre-programmed grid sizes

• Use your regional vocabulary and accent with Australian, British and American English, European and Canadian French, Castilian and American Spanish, and Dutch and Flemish. The app also supports bilingual use, and you can even switch languages mid-sentence

• 100 natural-sounding free voices across all languages, including children’s voices

Proloquo2Go puts the user’s development first with features based on clinical knowledge and user research. Studies show that just 200-400 words make up 80% of what we say – known as core words. Combined with best practices like modeling, teaching core words has been shown to grow language and communication skills. Our Crescendo™ vocabulary is based on this insight and puts core words front and center for easy access.

Grows communication skills

Proloquo2Go is one of the few AAC apps designed to support all users, from beginning to advanced. This lets someone develop from single words to full grammatical sentences in the same app. With over 10,000 words available, there’s no limit on what you can say. Our Progressive Language feature reveals words step by step. This helps communicators learn words and their location as their vocabulary gradually grows.

Research has shown that consistent placement of objects supports easy recognition, known as motor planning. With this in mind, Proloquo2Go's thematic templates keep core words in the same places throughout the vocabulary. This helps communicators by reducing time wasted trying to find words.

Easy customisation and accessibility

Buttons, pages, navigation and access - the whole app is customisable. With just a few taps, you can make it suit both vocabulary and accessibility needs. For the most important things, you can add your own buttons. The app comes with more than 25,000 symbols for new words – but you can use your own photos too. Accessibility settings support scanning and Apple’s VoiceOver, for users with fine-motor challenges and vision impairments. These make the app work with how you’re comfortable using it.

Comprehensive support

With Proloquo2Go, you get more than an app – we’re there for you every step of the way. Our website has free e-learning videos and PDF tutorials, and the Assistiveware Core Word Classroom includes resources for using AAC effectively. You can also connect directly with our AAC community on our Facebook groups. And for any questions you might have, our support team is available by email 7 days a week, and is always happy to help.

Discounts available with Apple’s educational Volume Purchase Program – 50% off on 20 licenses or more. Joan Bruno’s Gateway to Language & Learning© vocabulary is available as in-app purchase (English only).

What's New

Version 5.3

In Version 5.3, we’re expanding Proloquo2Go to add support for Dutch-speaking users. We spent about a year researching Dutch core words, grammar and language development. Proloquo2Go now supports both the Netherlands and Belgium with region-specific vocabularies and 9 Text to Speech voices - 4 Dutch and 5 Flemish.

The vocabulary can be configured for English, French, Dutch and Spanish. Bilingual users will love how easily Proloquo2Go addresses their needs in the other supported languages. The app can switch between languages instantly, and even mix languages mid-sentence. The vocabulary retains the same organisation across languages, making skills like navigation and categorisation easily transferable between languages.

To add a second language, go to Options to find the Speech and Language section. From there, choose Manage Languages to add your second language. To switch between languages while you’re using the app, open the Tools popup. Then tap the Languages button to switch to the other language you’ve set.

This update also includes the new features recently introduced in version 5.2:
• Optimised for the new iOS 11
• Optimised support for 10.5” iPad

Thanks for using our app!

This is THE BEST APP EVER!! (and just for the record have never written a review before!!!) My little fella is 6 and have only been using it for about 8 weeks and have to say am gobsmacked!!! Our son is non-verbal but it wasn't until we started using P2G that we really realised just how switched on he actually was. Am so excited about the potential of the App and how it will grow with him. Have had a couple of issues with the program (WASN'T THE PROGRAM - Operator error - got a bit carried away!!) and the support from these guys when I contacted them was instantaneous…. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! Love the fact we can use this App across so many different environments and because it is such a simple program have had no dramas at all when I've taken it into our school - and was so surprised because they all knew of it and had used it before …. It is so adaptable and functional. When I've had to leave our son with other members of our family and left his iPad with them, they've been a bit dubious at first, but it is SO EASY, they've really enjoyed the fact our little bloke can tell them what he needs/wants…. I can honestly imagine being able to use this with him for years to come. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Awesome to have instant communication at my fingertips

With every upgrade I am learning how intuitive this app really is. It has changed my life in so many ways... I can talk like an Aussie with a few Aussie accents, and even whisper a few words, swear and have access to a few more expressions... This app has truly become my voice, something I've not had in over 2 decades - true affiliation with an audible voice. Plq2g really is the best text to speech product I've seen in my 21 years of being non verbal... It's real time capabilities and acapella natural sounding voices are opening up worlds .... I have given many presentations using this app and the response is always amazing, hopefully over time more people will have the gift of communication thanks to this ingenious, intuitive, most excellent app.

Thanks AssistiveWare... This lil owl is my friend... Xxxx

P.s. I've now moved onto Prolquo4text developed by the same app developer, I still occasionally use proloquo2go to stay abreast of changes with each update, but Prolquo4text better suits my needs as a literate communicator, but without Prolquo2go I would not have begun my journey into the world of AAC.

A voice to be heard

Thankyou for giving my son a voice without it we wouldnot be where we are today and nuro team where astonished at his level of communication as Nero said he shouldnt be doing this just brilliant.
We wouldn't of known son was so bad with seizures if it were not for this device telling medical teams what was wrong so thankyou xxxxxxxooooooo

Update you all with this application it has challanged proff of nurology teams to re think on a non verbal and pysically disabled person because John tried communicating and they ignored his asking for help so investigated further myself and medical reports came back positive hip subbluxtion e.g so amazing that a 7 year old can let you know professor's are wrong to ignore me now have medical xrays to show the proff of John's complaints and it's not behavoural so proud of him and so thankfully for this program without it would be terrible I just thankyou so much for giving my son the voice he needs.
