Super value!

I sell online and started out with a small business tax program that required me to manually enter every single transaction. I used to get so far behind, it was a real headache :(. I found this app and as it syncs with my bank and Paypal, I was able to back-date all transactions to the beginning of the financial year saving me hours (days?) of work! It’s super simple to use and they update and improve all the time. At then end of the financial year I can choose which reports I want, print them and hand them over to the accountant. Its a relief to know that at tax time, all the information is accurate as they stay up to date with any changes to the tax laws. If you have any problems it’s easy to get help, they are super quick to respond and are very helpful. Highly recommended and well worth $5 a month.

Fantastic app but pls perfect with a few tweaks

I only got this today and it has been amazing for getting my business organised and relieving me of that pressure of a tonne of tax “bricks” on my shoulders. I am definitely on my way to getting set up and lodges.

Unless I am using it wrong for some reason I have to manually go in and classify every single existing transaction, once for category, and once for GST. The rules I set only apply in the future. I get that. But even a “select all” or a “mark several” option would do wonders. Or an apply rule button to all existing bank entries in a date range... they would save hours of tapping away. I guess the phone is supposed to supplement the computer. But my business is mobile and I don’t even have a computer. Lol.

Very minor suggestions but all in all a fantastic way to get your taxes and business under control and see exactly what goes in and out and where. Some additional categories would also be invaluable there too or the ability to add custom ones. E g I would really like to list fuel separate from other car expenses.

Developer Response ,

Welcome to QuickBooks! It's great to have you as a part of the Intuit Family. With regards to your first suggestion, I'd like to share a solution that can save you time going forward. If you create or edit a rule on the Self-Employed website (https://au.selfemployed.intuit.com/login), you'll see a checkbox that says "Also apply to past transactions". Check that off, and you won't have to categorize your past transactions individually. If needed, you can also check off and categorize multiple transactions at once on the website. With regards to categories, our developers are currently looking into adding more category options while keeping them consistent with the ATO's style of reporting. Updates will be posted on this page as they get closer to making these new features a reality (https://community.intuit.com/articles/1762284). If you have any other questions about the app, feel free to send them our way (QBCares@Intuit.com). I hope this helps! -Kristian, The QuickBooks Team

Was good at the start until you drum up more business

This was really good to use at first until you get lots of jobs/work and need to start sending quotes and paid receipts etc.
You can only send invoices, and then you get paid by have your bank details on the invoice.
There is a ok part about this and it’s the tracking but even that doesn’t track the whole trip in one hit, I travel an hour or more to jobs and it records snippets along the way if I’m an stopped at the lights for a few seconds it starts logging a new trip, by the end of the day when I’m doing my books there’s about 29 trips I need to sort out if they were personal or business related and when all I’ve done is one trip to one job.
You can’t send quotes.
You cant send a paid receipt if you get paid cash or by card with a eftpos/card reader, you have to send a invoice, mark it as paid then you only have the option then to send a receipt for the work you done to the customer. I’ve had to change to Xero now, I just have to log box my kms and trips now the old fashion way ☹️

Developer Response ,

Hi Djspete. We'd love an opportunity to address the concerns you mentioned in your review, make sure the app is covering your business needs, and get each of its features working properly for you. Starting with the mileage tracker, please note that this tool is designed to split your trip any time you make a stop that's 10 minutes or longer. This way, you can separate the personal and business portions of the journey. However, if the app is doing this before you reach the 10-minute mark, we recommend performing these steps to improve its accuracy (https://community.intuit.com/articles/1776078). In cases where each portion of your journey was business-related, you may also want to consider categorizing these trips via the Self-Employed website (https://au.selfemployed.intuit.com/login), which allows you to select multiple drives and assign a category to all of them at once. When it comes to the app's invoices, it's worth noting that you can record payments without having to use our Merchant Services. To do so, either sync your bank account to QuickBooks and import the payment automatically (https://community.intuit.com/articles/1763828), or use the steps in this article to manually record the transaction (https://community.intuit.com/articles/1764272). Once that's taken care of, it'd be best to mark the invoices as paid and send the receipt to your customer. Though quotes aren't offered right now, they could always be added in the future. Our developers keep track of the suggestions shared on pages like this one, and they often update the app with new features. With that in mind, we recommend keeping an eye on our blog (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/au/resources/product-updates/), which is where major software updates are first announced. If you have questions about this information or need any assistance with your QuickBooks account, feel free to contact our team via email (QBCares@Intuit.com). Wishing you and your business all the best. -Kristian, The QuickBooks Team
