Seconds comes with an Apple Watch app that allows you to use your saved interval timers (upgrade required) on your Apple Watch without your iPhone present. It also comes with a Quick Timer editor allowing you to easily and quickly create one-off timers while you are on the go.

The timing screen has a large time display that can easily be read from a distance. It works in portrait or landscape. The current interval and next interval are displayed so you can see also what's up now and next. The entire background uses the current interval colour so you don't even need to read the name.

Seconds comes with templates for HIIT, Tabata and Circuit Training making it very easy to quickly create a timer for your workouts. If you require more advanced options, Seconds doesn't let you down. You can create completely custom timers one interval at a time, or even combine timers together to create compound timers.

Seconds supports Bluetooth heart rate sensors and allows you to configure the display to show your current heart rate and estimated calories burned during your training session.

The text to speech option will read out your interval names as you get to them, or even give you some advance warning. Alternatively, you can choose from the built in alerts. These ranges from simple beeps, to MMA air horns and boxing bells, to bells and gongs for more relaxing timers.

Seconds allows you to match the intensity of your music to the intensity of your workout. For each interval, you can select a song, album, artist, genre, playlist, podcasts or audiobooks. If this is not to your taste you can simply play another music source in the background.

Share the timers you’ve created or completed with your friends on your Twitter, Facebook or Weibo. They will then be able to import your timer into their app.

Transfer all your timers to another device of yours or a friends easily via Email or AirDrop.

Use AirPlay Mirroring to display your timers on a big screen. Perfect for personal trainers and fitness class instructors. Enable Privacy Mode so your personal or client timers are not displayed as you navigate the app.

Apple Health data is used to calculate calorie expenditure. Workouts can be sent to Apple Health.

Family Sharing is something that is available for all apps. However, it is Apple's policy to not include in-app purchases with Family Sharing. If you require Family Sharing you should search for Seconds Pro which is a paid app and is therefore is eligable for Family Sharing.

Easy to use and incredibly flexible customisable timer

A simple, easy to use and flexible custom timer that I use all the time. I love the text to speech to let me know what activity is coming up with a countdown timer of 3-2-1 as a lead in.
The voice over alert for half way is very useful too. However, I’d like to have the ability to set alerts at other custom times eg in an activity of 20 mins I’d like to have more alerts than just one at the 20 minute mark.
I also agree that there is not enough ‘ducking’ of the music that’s playing when a voiceover alert comes on, particularly when playing through my watch. Setting the audio level of both independently or allow setting of a custom ducking level would be welcome.

Developer Response ,

You may set the audio level of the alerts, music and ducking independently as long as you disable the system player and instead use the app's internal music player. The only issue with this is that the app's internal player cannot play music that contains Digital Rights Management such as that of Apple Music's subscription service.

If you are using Apple Music then there are no options available to me as the developer. The only volume control is the system volume which reduces both the music and the alerts, and any other sounds your device makes. And the ducking is an option provided by Apple and has no configuration.

Easy to use, good custom timer

I love this app it’s easy to use and has a text to speech option that lets me know what activity is coming up next and gives a 3-2-1 count in.
Only frustrating thing is that when you choose to have audio playing (ie music) the warnings are often drowned out by the music and you can’t adjust the two volumes independently.
Hoping the next iteration will allow Pro users to send workouts to other Pro users. Save my entire training team having to enter it in each separately.

Misleading - poor Apple Watch functionality

At AU$8 for this app I am very disappointed that:
1. Phone and watch cannot show the same workout at same time. If you run the app on the phone but move about the gym to different stations I had hoped all the info for next exercise etc would be on Watch.
2. I can not get HR from Apple Watch to work on either watch or Iphone
3. The support website is of little help - seems full of ‘not possible at this time’.
Overall I like the iPhone app but it lacks the features I wasted my money for. Reading the descriptions in the App Store it suggests much more, hence my title of being misleading.

Developer Response ,

The app store description accurately describes the app's functionality. If you read more into it, that's not really our fault.
