Customer Reviews

It's an 8bit RPG - but not as you know it!

If at first glance you've passed on Slayin because it's just another retro inspired 8bit game with nothing surely new, then prepare to be pleasantly surprised. The controls and user interface are easy, the sound effect and classic 80's chiptune soundtrack all fit together and you'll soon find that you've been playing for half an hour or more. While you have only one life, it doesn't limit your experience and I find that the replay ability coupled with the not in your face micro transactions make Slayin a terrific game to play whenever you find the time.

It's dangerous to go alone, so take this!

More than expected

Picked this game up because I remember seeing it one some top 10 apps of the month list some time ago.
I came into it expecting something along the lines of braveheart but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be more of a skill(ish) based score attack with more cosmetic upgrades keeping a level playing field.
This means that when you advance further it's because you're improving and getting better ... Not because you caught more upgrades.
And having a class system prevents the game from ever becoming stale or boring!

A Gem and tribute

The game Slayin is a very well polished 8 bit video game, sort of a remastering of old school days of gaming, remodelled after games on the NES (The Nintendo Entertainment System) which is by far the Biggest strength. However the only flaw with Slayin is how rather unforgiving the game is, yet this works in its own favour; 8 Bit games like Castlevania and Ghosts and Goblins were unforgiving which can be considered a draw. Or I am just that bad a 8 bit games, I was born WAYYYYY after the 8 bit era. If you a game that has unique gameplay and pays a homage the days of yonder, then Slayin is right up your alley
