Good but begs for a step function
The integration service to other apps makes this more than just the educator I wanted for my kids BUT to do the intended job of educator I really do need a way to step through each word one-at-a-time CLEARLY at the pace I control. The pause and resume is not cleanly implemented and a kluge so I worked around this by putting extra punctuation between words to control the speed. For kids learning to read from the screen it's not a great idea to butcher grammar in this way when a step function would otherwise serve perfectly. Please add keyboard control to allow stepping through the words one-at-a-time - clearly. Highlighting spoken text should be in your write-up as a feature btw, Another app in-store promotes this feature and I almost bought it due to that until I saw the integration feature of this app. Thanks
Clear speech, great integration
I find this app extremely useful. I have to read hundreds of documents as part of my work and study. I have long been looking for a tool which would allow me to convert the text in these documents into audio files and then listen to their contents whilst driving or commuting. The fact I can just highlight text and use the services menu to "Speak It!" is also very useful. I use mainly the UK voices and am impressed with their clarity. Nice that "i.e." is read as "that is", etc.
In future, would like to see the ability to add custom pronunciation for unusual words (in my psychology studies there are plenty of ridiculously long words, and whilst the app gets is right 80% of the time for complex words, there are a few I'd like to be able to edit).
Also, there is currently a limit on the number of words one can convert to audio at a time. I suspect this may be lifted as the app matures and have made the request to the support team to look into how this might be achieved.
Really good app at a very cheap price. I thorougly recommend it.
Realistic British voice, but what's with the 1000 word limit?
The british male voice sounds quite realistic in trying to really dynamically. Good work. However, the tone can go up or down when it's not supposed to, and can sound weird.
The 1000 word audio output limit is pathetic. It should be virtually limitless.
