You deserve a break. Easy break reminders, with flexible customization if you want it.
It is very easy to fall into bad habits when using a computer for hours on end. You care about what you are doing, so can sometimes push yourself too far, or over-strain yourself. The human body isn't built to sit in one position for endless hours, gripping a mouse or typing on the keyboard. Dejal Time Out is here to help. It will gently remind you to take a break on a regular basis.
Time Out comes with two kinds of breaks: a "Normal" break, typically for 10 minutes every hour, so you can move about and relax, plus a "Micro" break: a very brief pause of typically 15 seconds every 15 minutes, so you can remember not to tense up too much for long periods. You can change, disable or remove either kind of break if desired, and add new kinds of breaks, e.g. fixed lunch or afternoon breaks.
You can configure how long each kind of break lasts, and how long between breaks, and the breaks can be set to count backwards when you take a natural break, e.g. when you go away from your computer.
Version 2 features customizable break themes, with several variations to show during breaks. These themes can be edited if desired, using standard HTML.
While in a break, a progress bar shows how long till it is over, and buttons are available to postpone or skip the break if you can't be interrupted right then.
What's more, you can optionally perform various actions before, during or after breaks. You can display a notification, play a sound, speak some text, run a script, and more.
• Mojave dark mode and compatibility.
• New option to choose which days of the week a break is available.
• New option to disable the app switcher, force quit, and shut down panels during a break.
• Plus other improvements. Read the release notes on the Updates page in the app for full details.

Give yourself a break and you may find you are actually more productive
Great app. Much needed in the fast paced tecchnology age.
This helps me a lot if I get distracted and the break is a good time to remember what I was supposed to be doing.
I heard about this app through a book: Thrive by Arianna Huffington
I just wanted to mention… I saw someone else give a 2 star rating and spoke of this app requiring a subscription. This is not exactly true: you do not have to make a reoccurring payment / ‘subscription’ to use all the features. All the features are available to test for 1 hour, then if you want to continue to use the extra features you are given 3 options of payment support. Now, these are one time payments, you don’t have to keep on paying to have access to the extra features, you give support once and the features are permeant. You have an option to give more support if you wish but don’t have to.
Thanks for the kind words, and for helping to clarify the supporter model for people.
Makes you move
As a freelance editor who works from a home office with my printer beside my desk and the bathroom two steps down the hall, I have a tendency to sit for long periods, as time flies while I’m working. This app reminds me that it’s time to move, and I like the way the screen greys over to discourage me from simply working through the break. I also like the feature that allows you to postpone breaks if you’re right in the middle of a task, as well as the ability to customise the work periods between breaks and the length of the breaks to suit your own working methods. I recommend this app to everyone I talk to about it and I recommend it to you, too.
Keeps me on track and honest :-)
Really enjoying the way this app makes it so much more difficult for me to keep working through really long times and then burning myself out. I love that I know I’ve got a predetermined “on-task” time and then a quick break that is almost forced by the screen locking me out. I also like that if I’m working on something that will suffer if I don’t just take another few minutes to complete, I can postpone the break. It’s a handy tool that takes most of the hard work of discipline out, leaving my brain a bit more open for taking in information and getting stuff done :-)
