Home away from home
My husband Gus and I go to Bali 3 to 5 times a year since falling in love with this beautiful Island in 2004. In that time we have tried on many many hotels for size trying to find that one we felt like we were home in, don't get me wrong all hotel were beautiful and staff were friendly but all were just missing that something you can't really explain until you experience it. In 2011 we found our perfect home away from home at the Ramayana resort hotel and spa. In all our travel experience around Bali and the world we call The Ramayana home ,the staff are now our family. Their hospitality is not just a job , it's their nature. Not that we are demanding people at all but Nothing is a problem from adding and changing their menu and going out of their way just to make you feel you at home.
I love the way all staff welcome you every minute of the day (without being over bearing and false). The rooms are very very clean (and trust me I'm a fuss pot) their location is very central to the markets, gift shops department stores , fine restaurants , water parks, all within walking distance. The bar staff are fantastic, fun, love to have a chat a laugh and even a dance it's truly a wonderful experience both my husband and I are very proud to call The Ramayana our " home away from home." I know you will fall in love with the architecture the gardens and the staff of this very traditional Balinese Resort.
Can be frustrating
TripAdvisor is a really useful website and app but writing reviews can be frustrating as it is hard to correct incorrect information or to make a new listing, particularly if it is a place/setting that may not be familiar to the TripAdvisor personnel that review listings. For example, I tried to correct information on places to visit in Vanuatu and it was obvious that TA personnel had no idea of Vanuatu..... I tried to list a new place to visit and it wouldn't allow it, even though there was no listing for the place and I could provide an address and phone number.
Same thing trying to correct the address of a restaurant that was just listed as being in Sydney when it is actually in a suburb out of the main Sydney centre......couldn't do it as I wasn't able to correct the city address, just the location address. This means that people searching for a restaurant in this suburb cannot see the restaurant unless they sift through thousands of listings in Sydney.....surely we should be able to make it easier.
The website seems to be biased to a US audience, but it is getting better.
Reviews are subject to personality
I have been trying for weeks to get put on as management of an establishment that has been placed up for review. Whilst most are good I have 2 reviews that are downright lies (one they were stealing and got their back up when I stopped them)! I have been through the whole process for verification but none of the codes rang through will work, tried 3 times now. I can't contact anyone for assistance and I'm left with this against my business with no right of reply or it being taken down for the 'customer' breaking the law. Too much left to common sense when there is none.
