Good game stopped short of greatness by in app purchases
Warhammer Quest is a great game. It looks really nice, and I quite enjoyed the gameplay and the reward loop and difficulty progression.
However, the in app purchases must be mentioned (just like in the other reviews here). It seems to me there's two ways to do in app purchases: Bonuses, such as better weapons or extra characters; or purchase extra episodes. Both are fine on their own. If I enjoy a game, I'll pay more for more episodes of the game. I will usually steer clear of better weapons and extra characters, but if I think the game is worth more than I paid, I might buy one or two to support the developer.
But here we have in app purchases for episodes AND characters AND weapons... which is an annoying combination. The game makes you feel like you always have an incomplete version of it.
The most annoying part about the in app purchases though is that you ALSO pay to unlock more monsters! Seriously? Please developers, I'd rather have newer tougher monsters unlock as I play. With an in-app purchase, how am I meant to know the right time during my playthrough to unlock these new monsters?
The in-app purchase model is bad. The game is good.
Just had my trollslayer hit by the necromantic spell gaze something, and it says that the hero would come back the start of my next turn but he never came back.
I love the game tho, and for those crying over the cost of the additional things just don't understand about how companies get money from micro transactions
Great genre and great to see solid turn based combat games. I played it fully but my only feedback is it should be faster,it's quite sluggish, between battles shouldn't require so much manual work, wasting turns to let characters catch up etc.. But even still living it anyway!
