Offline maps are rubbish
Don’t be fooled into thinking that the map you see in the preview here is the actual offline map you will be downloading, it looks nothing like it. All of the town names are missing (regardless of zoom level) and most of the roads you see are not there when at the same zoom level as the preview.
Contrary to the description it is next to impossible to preplan or navigate using the offline maps they are that bad.
I should add that i have this app and maps on my ageing windows phone and the maps are excellent but here on my ipad pro they are absolute rubbish.
I have posted to the forum but the developer just ignores the map grievances. I have also deleted and reinstalled the app with no improvement.
You have been warned.
Developer Response ,
Hi Oziroads. The maps on the screenshots are Apple Maps so you're correct, these are not the offline maps, however, the offline maps are still high quality vectored maps and will become even better in the next major update of WikiCamps. :)
The worst app.
I paid for and downloaded WickiCamps Australia at the recommendation of a friend. I’m generally reasonably literate when it comes to PCs and iPhone, but this app just doesn’t work, not on iPhone anyway. I choose to plan my trip using Trip Plan but each destination has to be searched on the map and centred on a tiny cursor, instead of the app just applying it after typing the place name. Then the klm’s indicated between these locations is totally out! I wanted so much for this to work, I’ve tried deleting it and then reinstalling but still no luck. In desperation (thinking maybe better on pc), but I’m expected to pay for it again on each device, which I now refuse to do! This app is total garbage!
Well what can I say? Yesterday I somehow managed to lose a big trip plan which had taken quite a bit of research and planning at home prior to starting out trip.
After asking a question on can it be recovered. I received an email asking me for the name of the lost trip.
Now today I get another email advising me that the lost plan had been recovered. WOW !
Thanks Russ! I have never had that kind of support from any App before.
Well done WikiCamps!
