Continues To Be Awful

Paid for this app several years ago. As others have stated, the updates stripped it of the functionality and detail that we paid for originally. No longer a "PDF" equivalent of a Nat Geo maps, the rendering of what reduced information remains in the offline database is fickle: at different zoom levels place names randomly appear and disappear. Searching for a place: it will be displayed in a strange greyed-out screen, and then you cannot zoom in or out from there. Have to return to "normal" display mode, and your search result will disappear!

Just woeful. So glad it pushes trivia questions regularly: latest one was where Lego was invented. And I just wanted (and paid for) a decent, reliable offline map.

I've only kept it on the iPad in the hope they come to their senses one day. Not looking likely, I must say.

Great for newer devices if...

This app is great, the new version is a BIG step forwards, way easier to use then the old version. If you download it I suggest you download the offline maps or it will lag and freeze a lot. It works fine on iPhone 5s and iPad Air or newer but it is HOPELESS on older devices. These other people probably use a OLD device and didn't download the offline maps.

Dis app be buggy as hell. I can't save pins, the offline map quality is horrible, the capital of each country is shown but is hidden behind a couple of screens (this is not an obscure piece of information), the map goes grey when you're looking at a location (why can't I select another country from within the same menu??), etc... I could go on and on. Nat Geo, you should be ashamed. This is just lazy programming. Get someone to fix it for God's sake. And give my money back in the meantime.
