The Official Yellow Cabs iPhone App for our customers in Brisbane (including Redcliffe, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands and Wynnum)
Uses Yellow Cabs existing and successful Web Booker database. If you are an existing Web Booker customer there is no need to re-register.
As it is linked to your Yellow Cabs Web Booker account you have access to your history & favourite locations from your Web Booker account.
Books your taxi directly into our dispatch system & jumps the often busy telephone queue when booking your cab.
You will also be able to see how far away your taxi is with our LIVE Tracking feature plus access to a number of automatic "on approach" notifications.
Taxi fare estimates are available when placing an order.
Automatic dial to the Yellow Cabs centre if required
Book a taxi using the iHail function, which uses the iPhone built in GPS to determine your pickup point and if required you may further fine tune the map pin location determined by iHail by using the map presented location on the screen of your iPhone.
Find ranks close to you by using our "Find a Rank" function.
The Yellow Cabs iPhone application delivers a streamlined booking alternative for Yellow Cabs' customers.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life when there are active bookings.
What's New in Version 1.1
Fixed - GPS is turned off when App is in background with no active bookings.
New - iHail address lookup returns a Place name if found.
Awesome app!! So much fun!!!!!!
I downloaded this app on the bus. When I got off, all ready. This app uses your current location to book a taxi in their system. The accurate address is already there! Don't quit when your booking is pending! Then a taxi around you will respond your request! After your order accepted, the app will pop up a notice to tell you how far away is your taxi, like 347m away something. Then your taxi will come!!! :))
First go worked great
Tried it for the first time yesterday. Booked a cab for peak hour pick up with an hours notice. He was waiting for me before I got to the gate. The driver also gave me some tips about the app. You should use the email notification. The drivers take this notification as a proper call. He showed me how it's seen on his drivers computer. Will definitely try it again
A good start, needs effort.
Massive battery drain if you leave it running after pickup. Having to multitask in and close the app to avoid halving your battery life has caused friends of mine to uninstall the app.
Ugly interface aside, it leaves an arbitrary notification after a pickup that never goes away (bug). iHail does not work. Could benefit from a "landmarks near me" system. A good start, but please focus on making the app a little less of an assault on the eyes (maybe use a sliding card system and a little texture) and fix the notification bug. There's some great opportunities for sounds here too.
