Puerto Rican singer, dancer, and actress Ana Isabelle appeared in the 2007 film El Cantante, a biopic about the life of salsa legend Héctor Lavoe, before releasing her full-length solo album debut, Por el Amor, later in the year. Released on La Calle Records, Por el Amor spawned a series of singles, including "Cuando No Estás," "Quién Dijo Amigos?," and "Dime." Of these singles, "Quién Dijo Amigos?," co-written by Puerto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi, was the most successful, breaking into the Top 50 of the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart.
