About Blockheads

A French grindcore band that formed in 1992, Blockheads toiled away long enough -- and with enough gusto -- to earn support slots for such genre giants as Napalm Death, Entombed, Carcass, and Obituary. The group released its first demo, Haaashaastaak, in 1993, and followed that up with the self-released full-length Last Tribes. The first of two splits came next -- a 7" with Mastic Scum in 1997 (the second split in Blockheads' career, with Nostromo, would see release in 2002) -- and Blockheads released album number two (also a self-released affair) in 1998. The album and subsequent live work that the band put in paid off, and Blockheads inked a deal with label Bones Brigade. With said label the band would go on to release 2000's From Womb to Genocide and 2001's Human Parade. Festival appearances followed their recording output and success, and -- with new label Overcome leading the way -- Blockheads were ready to release album number six, Shapes of Misery, in 2006. ~ Chris True
