Bruce Lee Band

About Bruce Lee Band

Mike Park and his ever-revolving cast of players, the Bruce Lee Band, fuse the timeless sound of ska with the unabashed pop and punk that Park and his label, Asian Man, have become synonymous with. Formed by Park himself in 1995 and continuing with the sound of Skankin' Pickle -- whom Park had been a member of since their formation in 1989 -- the group originally pulled members from the likes of RX Bandits and Less Than Jake to record their eponymous debut album, which was issued via Park's Asian Man label that same year. After its release, the project essentially went on hiatus, while Park released albums with Skankin' Pickle, the Chinkees, and his solo project, while also running his hugely successful label. It would be ten years before the group released more material, with 2005's Beautiful World EP, before once again settling on the back burner. Resuming in 2014 with the release of the Community Support Group EP -- which would be the first Bruce Lee Band release not to appear on Park's own label -- that same year the band also followed up with the release of their sophomore album, Everything Will Be Alright, My Friend. Five years later, a reinvigorated band -- which now featured Jeff Rosenstock, MU330's Dan Potthast, and Kevin Higuchi -- issued the seven-track mini-album Rental!! Eviction!! ~ Rich Wilson
