About Cédric Tiberghien

Cédric Tiberghien is a French pianist. He began studying piano at five, taking lessons from Michele Perrier in Noyon. He attended the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied with Frédéric Aguessy and Gérard Fremy, and in 1992 he received the Premier Prix. Between 1993 and 1998, Tiberghien participated in several international competitions, taking First Prize at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition in Paris in 1998. An enthusiastic chamber musician, he has collaborated with violinist Alina Ibragimova, violist Antoine Tamestit, and cellist Pieter Wispelwey, and has accompanied soprano Sophie Karthäuser and baritone Stéphane Degout in vocal recitals. Tiberghien has concentrated on works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Brahms, and Debussy, and he has expanded his repertoire to include music by Szymanowski, Ravel, Berg, and Bartók. He was honored as a BBC New Generation Artist from 2005 to 2007. He has recorded for Hyperion and Harmonia Mundi.
