About De Dijk

Formed in 1981 at by brothers Huub and Hans van der Lubbe and friend Daniel Derks, De Dijk caught the wave of Dutch rock music, which the band has ridden ever since. Featuring lyrics in Dutch rather than English or German, De Dijk were something of an anomaly in the market, and their eponymous 1982 debut album was an enormous success. Although De Dijk's sophomore release, Nooit Meer Tarzan (1983), faltered in sales and popularity, success returned beginning with 1985's Elke Dag een Nieuwe Hoed and 1987's Wakker in een Vreemde Werald. De Dijk toured and recorded regularly thereafter, becoming one of the most important rock innovators in Dutch history and influencing an entire generation of European musicians. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
