About Fun-Da-Mental
British-Asian outfit Fun-Da-Mental was formed in Bradford in August 1991 by Propa-Ghandi, formerly a member of Southern Death Cult and founder of Nation Records. Their debut single, "Janaam - The Message," immediately brought them to the attention of the national music press, particularly the dance magazines. They followed up with "Gandhi’s Revenge," before they split in two in late-1993. One half became Det-Ri-Mental, while Fun-Da-Mental joined with Pop Will Eat Itself for the "Ich Bin Ein Auslander" anti-racism tirade. They also became one of the first bands to visit the post-apartheid South Africa, prior to the release of their lauded debut album, SEIZE THE TIME. Subsequent albums relentlessly pursued their political ideals, while their music has shown an increasing interest in traditional Asian styles.
