About Luciano

Combining a powerful rasp with thoughtful lyrics and themes of Rastafarian spirituality, Luciano has delivered an uplifting brand of R&B and rock-inflected reggae for decades. Jepther McClymont was born in Davyton, Jamaica, in 1964 to strict Adventist parents, whose faith eventually seeped into his music. Inspired by the sounds of Bob Marley, Luciano began recording in the early 1990s, with songs like “Ebony and Ivory” (a cover of the Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder hit) and “Shake It Up Tonight” propelling him into the spotlight. He continued his rise with 1995’s Where There Is Life, an LP laced with encouraging tracks that exude the positivity that’s characterised his career. Since then, he’s released acclaimed albums like Serve Jah (2003), Zion Awake (2014) and Return of the Chronicles (2022), reaffirming his status as a venerable force in Jamaica’s reggae scene.
