About Nathalie

Known to her fans as simply Nathalie, pop singer Nathalie Schmeikal was a finalist on the Swedish television show Idol who went on to a short-lived recording career. Born in 1985 in the city of Mölndal, Sweden, Schmeikal grew up in the town of Skärhamn. After successfully auditioning for Idol (essentially the Swedish version of American Idol), she finished in eighth place on the 2004 season. Her performances on the show included Boyz II Men's "A Song for Mama," Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," Michael Jackson's "Black or White," the Commodores' "Easy," and Lisa Nilsson's "Varje Gång Jag Ser Dig." Upon exiting the show, Schmeikal was featured on the compilation album Det Bästa Från Idol 2004 and signed a recording contract with the label Palladium Music. She made her recording debut as simply Nathalie in 2005 with the single "Did You Love Me." In 2006 she released her full-length album debut, Here with Me, and scored a hit with her second single, "We Think It's Love," previously an Australian Top Ten hit for Leah Haywood in 2000. The album's title track was also released as a single but failed to rival the success of its predecessor. ~ Jason Birchmeier
