About The Frogs

Although brothers Jimmy and Dennis Flemion formed the Frogs in 1980, they didn’t release a proper LP until their 1988 self-titled debut. In the intervening years, they developed a cult following for their sardonic, lo-fi, proto-alterna-rock, often recorded with simple electronics, tape loops, amateurish guitars, and tongue-in-cheek vocals. In 1989 and 1991, they released It's Only Right and Natural and Racially Yours, which saw them controversially adopting the personas of righteously indignant minorities. However, the albums proved to be an influence on cornerstone ’90s alternative acts like Pearl Jam and Nirvana, and the Frogs continued to record with increased visibility through the early 2000s, most notably peaking in popularity with their 1996 Matador album, My Daughter the Broad. ~ Kenneth Herzog
