About The Golden Palominos

An ever-shifting, wildly eclectic project conceived and directed by drummer Anton Fier, the Golden Palominos existed on the fringes of the college/alternative-rock scene in 1980s and ‘90s, drawing numerous renowned musicians into its orbit, including avant-garde composer/saxophonist John Zorn, bassist/producer Bill Laswell, and vocalists John Lydon (Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd.), Bob Mould (Husker Du, Sugar), and Michael Stipe (R.E.M.). While the ensemble’s early outings were quite experimental, later efforts focused on atmospheric pop tunes, thanks in large part to the presence of singer/songwriter Lori Carson.
