The Maccabees

About The Maccabees

U.K. indie rock outfit the Maccabees formed in London in 2004, supposedly picking their name at random from a page of the Bible. The group is led by singer and guitarist Orlando Weeks. Their first single, "X-Ray," was released in 2005 and garnered opening spots on an Arctic Monkeys tour. Their debut LP, Colour It In, was issued in 2007, and Wall of Arms followed in 2009 with Arcade Fire collaborator Markus Dravs producing. Released in 2012, Given to the Wild hit the Top Five in the U.K. and earned a Mercury Award nomination, and their fourth full-length, 2015's Marks to Prove It, became their first U.K. number one. ~ Charity Stafford & Marcy Donelson
