As literary political fiction, 1984 is considered a classic novel of the social science fiction subgenre. Since its publication in 1949, many of its terms and concepts, such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, Newspeak, and Memory hole, have become contemporary vernacular. In addition, the novel popularised the adjective Orwellian, which refers to lies, surveillance, and manipulation of the past in the service of a totalitarian agenda.
In 1998, the Modern Library ranked 1984 13th on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.

Timeless classic relevant today.
I first read this book in grade 10 English class. My absolute favourite book.
One of the best pieces of literature from the 20th Century. Many of the concepts coined in or from this book , big brother, thoughtcrime, newspeak and Orwellian state are slowly becoming reality, bringing us closer to a totalitarian state. Orwell is known for his highly descriptive and immersive texts, you will find yourself genuinely anxious as Winston and Julia navigate this dystopian world in a world we’re love is forbidden, but beware big brother is always watching!
Is simply a Must read!
What an unbelievable book, the resemblance with so many actual world powers, governments, mind/will controlling ways of the modern world, really makes you question the ways of the world, and your very own surroundings.... Without any paranoid,... ok?
Great book, not so great ebook
The book's as classic as ever, but there's heaps of syntax errors in this ebook - quite frustrating.
