Publisher Description
“No secret stays hidden forever.”
The explosive international bestseller were history, romance, and the paranormal collide.
A phone call from an old friend sets immortal book dealer Giovanni Vecchio back on the path of a mysterious manuscript he's hunted for over five hundred years. He never expected a young student librarian could be the key to unlock its secrets, nor could he have predicted the danger she would attract. Now he and Beatrice De Novo follow a twisted maze that leads from the archives of a university library, though the fires of Renaissance Florence, and toward a confrontation hundreds of years in the making.
A HIDDEN FIRE is the first book by USA Today and international bestseller, Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries, the Irin Chronicles, the Cambio Springs Mysteries, and the Glimmer Lake series.

Story of Beatice, 22, who works in the special books section of the University library. She is attracted to the handsome Italian "professor" who comes in every week to copy an ancient Chinese text. Her assumption that Gio is an academic is valid but he is not a lecturer at the uni. He is a 500 year old vampire who has actually been searching for her father, whom she thinks is dead, because he may help him recover an ancient library of precious texts stolen from him. The relationship between Gio and Beatrice grows slowly, and he thinks he is only interested in B to find her father. He looks late 20s but he thinks she is far too young for him, however he finds that rather than being bored as he gets to know her her finds her more interesting. As a rare fire vampire he is used to being alone. His twisted "son" is also trying to capture B in order to get to her father. GIO saves her but she has lost her trust in him.
