In 1883, Minnesota politician Ignatius Donnelly published Ragnarok: The Age of Fire and Gravel . In it, Donnelly argues that a comet struck Earth 12,000 years ago, leaving evidence which he outlines.  Ragnarok is divided into four “parts” , each with many chapters and illustrations.
