Skulduggery and Valkyrie are back, in an exclusive World Book Day novelette, set after the momentous events of Death Bringer… Hey, punks! Skulduggery and Valkyrie are about to make your day… 15-year-old Ryan is running away from home, looking for escape and adventure. But unfortunately, sometimes people DO get what they wish for. Ryan hasn’t gone far before he is set upon by a bunch of scary, nihilistic punk-sorcerers who need him to set off a doomsday device that will destroy the planet and everyone on it. Fun! Riding to the rescue, however, is a certain skeleton detective and his teenage partner/combat accessory. Now Skulduggery and Valkyrie only have a few hours to figure out what's going on, while saving Ryan and – incidentally – the whole world. And all that time, the punk-sorcerors are closing in…
Really great book but you have to read the first 6 books
I didn't like it
I am a huge fan of Derek Landy I have all his books but this was just to short and I thought it would be valkery losing all control and destroying the world like in the vision of dark days but this was short and I just didn't like it.
The book is alright but throuout the entire series there was Darquesse, The Faceless Ones, Lord Vile and The Death Bringer to name a few bad guys and none of those names were even mentioned in this book. Yeah I can relate to good old Ryan but none of the big names was mentioned. When I started reading I thought it would be Darquesse Skulduggery and Val would be fighting or something like that but there is only 1 small mention of her (if you look hard enough). I'm a MASSIVE fan of the series and it pains me to give such a bad rating to this book but seriosly ONLY 10 CHAPTERS! come on people there needs to be more chapters than THAT. You might think I'm being a bit harsh but I like the series so much I kinda expected more from such a great series. This book has nothing to do with the other 6 books. I would recommend the rest of the series but this is a bit of a let down. :-(
