'The Barrier uses action-packed, tech-savvy speculative fiction to examine intractable problems of today's world.' Sydney Morning Herald
Twenty years ago an Ebola epidemic brought the world to the edge of oblivion.
The West won the war, the East was isolated behind a wall, and a vaccine against Ebola was developed. Peace prevailed.
Now Agent Noah Williams is being sent over the barrier to investigate a rogue scientist who risks releasing another plague. But why would a once-respected academic threaten the enforced vaccination program that ensures humans are no longer an endangered species?
Hunting for answers amid shootouts, espionage and murder, Noah will have to confront a fundamental question:
In the fight for survival, can our humanity survive too?
A Must Read!
If you're into fast paced thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat from the first to the last page, this book is for you.
If you're into extraordinarily well written and well researched stories with beautifully developed in-depth and real characters, this book is a must read.
Although it is set in the future, the storyline is entirely believable. Set in a world where utter inequality is the birthright of the lucky and the burden of the geographically unlucky, this book shows us a scarily realistic outcome of the struggle for dominance between politics, science and religion.
The characters are often ruthless and seemingly lacking morality, but we are given continuous insights into their personal pasts and the world they live in that very convincingly make the reader empathise with and understand their thoughts and actions.
Even with the dark picture that is being painted of this future, the characters retain their humanity and their drive to create a better future for the human race, even if this comes at great personal sacrifice.
Can't wait for the sequel!
