The Girl Who Was Taken

Description

If you loved THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN, don't miss this sensational suspense thriller that will keep you guessing to the very end . . .

Her truth is only half the story . . .

Megan McDonald is a high school senior when she disappears from the small town of Emerson Bay. Miraculously, after two weeks held captive, she escapes from a bunker hidden deep in the woods.

Now, one year on, Megan is a national celebrity thanks to her bestselling book, Missing. It's an inspiring story - except for one inconvenient detail.

There was a second girl who was taken. Her classmate Nicole Cutty.

Livia Cutty is a forensic pathologist. Every time a Jane Doe arrives at the morgue she wonders if it's her missing sister. However it's the body of a young man, an apparent suicide, that finally offers the first clue to Nicole's fate. So Livia reaches out to Megan for help.

But Megan knows more than she's revealed. Flashes of memory are coming together - and they are pointing to something darker and more monstrous than anything her chilling memoir describes.

From Publishers Weekly

06 February 2017 – In this fast-moving page-turner from Donlea (Summit Lake), fledgling forensic pathologist Livia Cutty is determined to find answers about the fate of her missing sister, Nicole, who vanished from a high school beach party in Emerson Bay, N.C., a year or so earlier, along with classmate Megan McDonald. Megan has become a media darling since her recent escape from the bunker where she was held. A body brought to Livia's Raleigh, N.C., morgue provides her first break. The badly decomposed corpse of a young man with puzzling injuries is identified as that of drifter Casey Delevan. When the news of the man's death goes public as part of a homicide investigation, Livia gets a call from a friend of Nicole's claiming a link between Casey and Nicole. Starting to investigate in earnest with the aid of emotionally fragile Megan, the sympathetic doctor stumbles across a disturbing secret side to her sister and into very real danger. Donlea skillfully maximizes suspense by juggling narrators and time all the way to the shocking albeit implausible final twists.

Brilliant

A fantastic read, I loved it. This should definitely be made into a film!

I'd read it again!!

Such great writing, great story line with an ending I didn't see coming!! Loved it and wish I could read it for the first time again!

The Girl who was Taken

I have never read a book before that has had my heart racing so fast and mind working overtime to anticipate ‘who done it’. You did a great job with the twist. Did not see ‘who done it’ coming. A little frustrated though as it’s left me with unanswered questions.
