Course Description

This course is to develop an understanding of Antarctica. We will explore concepts around history, exploration, climate and ecology.

During this unit we will focus on the following key questions:

- How and why is Antarctica different to Australia?
- How is Antarctica managed and by who?
- How has humanity affected Antarctica over time and what can I do to help?
- What are the unique characteristics of the climate and geography in Antarctica?
- Who were the key figures in discovering and mapping the continent and how did they manage their exploration with the lack of modern technology?
- Do people live on Antarctica? What do they do there? Why are they there?

Any of the activities included in this course could be used to help create your own unit of work.
