An unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original filmmaking, Act of Valor stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs in a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism. Inspired by true events, the film combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the minute battlefield technology and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure. Act of Valor takes audiences deep into the secretive world of the most elite, highly trained group of warriors in the modern world. When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot against the U.S., a team of SEALs is dispatched on a worldwide manhunt. As the valiant men of Bandito Platoon race to stop a coordinated attack that could kill and wound thousands of American civilians, they must balance their commitment to country, team and their families back home. Each time they accomplish their mission, a new piece of intelligence reveals another shocking twist to the deadly terror plot, which stretches from Chechnya to the Philippinesand from Ukraine to Somalia. The widening operation sends the SEALs across the globe as they track the terrorist ring to the U.S.-Mexico border, where they engage in an epic firefight with an outcome that has potentially unimaginable consequences for the future of America.
Entertaining, accurately depicted modern combat, despite lacking story.
Act of Valor received fairly harsh reviews by ‘official’ film critics mostly due to the story being a little implausible and the ‘rough’ acting. But the film definitely makes up for this in the extremely accurate combat sequences and military protocol.
The film is entirely cast (except for Alex Veadov, Roselyn Sánchez, Nestor Serrano & Emilio Rivera) with active duty U.S. Navy SEALs and U.S. Navy Special Warfare Combatant Crewman, which really brings the combat scenes to life with authenticity.
So aside from the sometimes emotionless acting by the SEALs (which is probably closer to reality) and corny storyline, this film is hands down the most precise modern combat fiction film I’ve ever seen. Definitely recommended.
Good film brings the reality of what our soldiers do home
forget the acting flaws. this is movies is about what these guys do day in day out to keep our rights and freedoms alive. Great film would recommend it.
Could've been better, but still a good watch
As most viewers say, the acting isn't that great but what got me was the agonising slow start to story and the need to convince the audience that the soldiers are all about family value. We get it. No need to convince us with repetition and overuse of voice overs to remind us of their commitment.
Great battle scenes. Needs more helicopters with lasers.
