About the Movie

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James "Whitey" Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.

This is a good film

I had the goodness of watching this in a lounge, and I think you should Get this movie not just to pass the time but to see a good acted and well shot film and a Oscar winning performance by Johnny Depp, this film is dark and the scary thing is, it's based on a true story

Black Mass

This film should win an oscar in make up for Depp's haunting uncanny like transformation into nortorious Boston Irish Gangster James Joseph ''Whitey'' Bulger. Depp nails the part, and gets good support from Joel Edgerton. A riveting must watch crime drama, will definitely be buying it on itunes

Good movie with some serious character problems

This is a very good movie with some real problems for the scriptwriter and director. Unlike the Iceman, the Godfather, Scarface, or Goodfellas, or Casino, where the really unpleasant bad guys at least had a sense of humour or were driven by loyalty to their families, all of the characters in this story are moral bankrupts with. No one seems to be doing anything for anyone except themselves (which I guess is pretty much like bad guys in real life), so you find that by the end of the movie, you can only relate to very minor characters, like Whitey’s ex-wife, or the FBI guys wife, or the district attorney who pops up at the end.
