From Disney and creative genius Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) comes the hilarious and offbeat Frankenweenie, a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life — with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town learn that getting a new "leash on life" can be monstrous. Complete with electrifying bonus features, Frankenweenie is alive with enchanting fun for the whole family.
I have been a fan of Tim Burton's mastery since I was very young, his vision and artistry is beyond anything I have ever seen, it always touches me deeply, right to my soul. Frankenweenie has been his greatest achievement since his early works such as Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride, it is hauntingly beautiful, great story of man's best friend and one young boys quest to get his beloved friend and pet back after tragically losing him too soon. The black and white sequence fits perfectly for the atmosphere it produces, amazing voice actors and brilliant use of the stop motion feature, one of my favourite animated movies of all time and especially in my top five of most favourite Tim Burton masterworks. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone of all ages, it can be a little scary in some scenes but overall a great movie for the whole family. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I thought the whole black and white would annoy me, but I actually really enjoyed this film! A film for the whole family of all ages to watch.
it lacked something in the story...
it was a bit dull and disappointing after reading the other reviews posted here. I guess I was expecting a spectacular story that demanded my full attention, anticipating going through a full range of emotions, especially for a dead pet story. Instead I found myself checking to see how much longer was there to go. I normally really enjoy family movies, I really appreciate animation and was expecting Tim Burton putting a darker more exciting twist to disney… It lacked something in the story or the story telling. Missing something.. if you have time to kill, try and figure it out. Otherwise I'd watch something else.
