From director Clint Eastwood, "Invictus" tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team, Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon), to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa's underdog rugby team as they make an unlikely run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match.
If you want to know about LEADERSHIP then watch this movie, then read the book. It's not about the rugby.
If you are a rugby lover, do not watch this movie. The movie is great besides the rugby. Could've used real footage maybe? Shows how much Americans know about the great game ;).
Morgan Freeman is amazing
Wow. Invictus. The most inspiring film I have ever seen. From visionary director Clint Eastwood comes the very true story of Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) uniting South Africa from the end of apartheid. Much of the filming took place in Johannesburg, and the state of living of the black people there is a very eye-opening experience. This film is a must-see for anyone who wants an inspiring and eye-opening film into South Africa and their nationwide experience from Nelson Mandela's inauguration into Presidency.
