Emilia has the responsibility of collecting Jack from his school where she encounters snide glances and whispers from some other mothers - Emilia and John's relationship began as an office affair whilst he was still married. Worse still, as hard as she tries to be a good step-parent to the boy, her efforts are hindered by the fact that Jack serves as his mother's mouthpiece, and at times speaks in a very off-hand and cruel way about Isabel's death.
