About the Movie
Picking up after Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
New benchmark for finale's
This is how you finish a series, with a movie that holds its own against any of the best movies the series had to offer.
Successfully blends both styles the series is known for.
Will be considered either the second best or best in series by long time fans, and is equally as accessible for first timers.
The Director the DP and the Editor should be ashamed
I made it half way through this movie. Couldn't watch it anymore because it may have caused an epileptic seizure. I don't have epilepsy. Seems like they are trying to capitalise on the franchise. Two stars for the DP. The rest was garbage.
Awful way to wrap up the series.
The series has captivated me since I saw the very first film at the cinemas.
This film betrays the story they set up! The script contradicts things from the previous films, and doesn't even make a whole lot of sense at times.
I have loved how several of the films build on the cliffhanger of the previous film, helping to build the story. This film seems to completely ignore the previous film. We see practically nothing of the expected battle, only a brief, confusing image of the aftermath. Huh?
The other thing that almost makes me give a 1 star is that the editing is woeful. Many times in the cinema I started counting the duration of each shot. I never counted more than 5 seconds. The film goes from shot to shot faster than sprinting zombies! It is just too much for one's brain to take in. You can never connect with any characters and even trying to follow them is so hard because you never get enough time to actually see them properly. (One character turned out to be a villain, but I had him/ her confused with another character- and thought that they had died earlier in the film!)- My confusion was partly attributed to the really low lighting for chunks of the film...
The action sequences we did see were pretty entertaining and generally well done, but that's about all I can say!
