From the director of 'Picnic at Hanging Rock', 'Gallipoli', 'Witness', 'Dead Poet's Society', 'The Truman Show' and 'Master and Commander:The Far Side of the World', the six-time Academy Academy nominated Peter Weir comes 'The Way Back', a 2011 Oscar nominee for Make-up. With a night time blizzard as cover, seven prisoners caught up in Stalin's Reign of Terror escape a Soviet Gulag in 1940. With little food or equipment, and no certainty of their location or intended direction, they embark on a journey that will present unimaginable hardship and drama. Joined by a 14-year old orphan girl they struggle through a treacherous journey that will take them across Siberia, the Gobi Desert and over the Himalayas - thousands of miles of hostile terrain en-route to India and freedom. Starring Jim Sturgess ('Across the Universe', '50 Dead Men Walking'), Colin Farrell ('In Bruges', 'Pride and Glory'), 4 time Oscar nominee Ed Harris, Mark Strong ('Robin Hood', 'Sherlock Holmes') and Saoirse Ronan, a 2008 Supporting Actress Academy Award nominee for 'Atonement'.
THE WAY BACK
Inspirational & Powerful storyline. Brilliant performances from the entire cast. The movie
dragged a little too long in some parts, for the message was well received, no need to take
it further. Colin was very different in this role, believeable. There was an uneasiness to him.
All up you feel the journey they are on, the highs the lows & thats what movie making is all
about ~ Be sure to have a large bottle of Water by your side whilst viewing, you're going to
need it. :o)
I really enjoyed this movie! What a struggle for them on their LONG journey! Colin Farrell played his character to a tea!! He's quite scary!!
I recommend viewing.
