About the Movie
The remarkable true story of Robyn Davidson (Mia Wasikowska), a young woman who leaves her life in the city to make a solo trek through almost 2,000 miles of sprawling Australian desert. Accompanied by only her dog and four unpredictable camels, she sets off on a life-changing journey of self-discovery. Along the way, she meets National Geographic photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver) who begins to photograph her voyage.
It’s not about the destination!
Very enjoyable. Vicariously the viewer follows this brave young woman on her personal quest. Her motive and the determination-even she is not really able to articulate until near the end of her journey. Having not read the book I felt as though the movie represented the ‘real’ story in an honest and not an exaggerated manner. The movie does move slowly but consistently. It’s about the journey not the destination, as they say. Lovely scenery and cinematography. I loved the great Aboriginal characters. The soundtrack gets a bit monotone at times but only when you realise you have drifted off the track of her journey and into the recesses of your own mind and your own wanting for a quest.
A real Aussie gem
I loved this movie, really touched a chord in my heart. It inspired such an emotion response the whole way through. Easily 5 stars, must see
