Best creative writing podcast

The best creative writing podcast there is, especially for spec fic writers.

Still Listening (and Writing) Since Mid-2010

Host Mur Lafferty describes I Should Be Writing as a podcast by a wannabe fiction writer for wannabe fiction writers, and I reckon that, combined with Mur's focused-yet-easygoing delivery, is why I like it so much. It's easy to get treatises on writing from successful veterans, but Mur's right there in the trenches with the rest of us, making her own way as a fiction writer step by step. Mur knows how hard it is to juggle sitting down and cranking out a thousand words a day with your other commitments, or slash through your own first draft with your correction pen's blood-red ink, or handle the downer of your hundredth rejection slip. She's unstinting with her advice and thoughtful in her replies, and her conversations with fellow authors from big names like Michael A. Stackpole and Pat Cadigan to legends of self-publishing like Scott Sigler and even scrappers like herself are a little different than anything I've heard or read before.

Inspiration, motivation and lots of useful information

I Should Be Writing is great for aspiring writers, especially if speculative fiction is your area of interest. The feedback episodes are great, as Mur answers questions and discusses topics suggested by the listeners. The interviews are great because Mur's style is that of an aspiring writer picking the brains of a range of more established authors. Heaps of useful advice for all writers, ranging from the technical aspects of the craft itself, right through to the business of writing.
