Chapter 01: Saving a Child. Read by Kristen Bell.

In this chapter–narrated by Kristin Bell, award-winning actress and star of the NBC series “The Good Place”–Professor Peter Singer asks; “If you saw a child drowning in a pond, would you jump in and save them?” He argues that the same instinct and moral obligation, which would lead most people to act without hesitation, should apply when deciding whether to help children living in poverty.

A life changer

Listening to this audiobook, and later reading the book, has made a huge difference to my outlook on life and on giving. I’ve always valued altruism, having volunteered with various programs since I was 17 and given 3.5% of my pre-tax income last financial year, but this book has changed the way I choose to give, and the way I choose to spend. I cannot recommend it enough.
