Charting ‘chapter 1’ of the investment journey

An informed approach to property investment is key to navigating the storms and the sunlight in the ever-changing property market.
On this episode of The Smart Property Investment Show, host Phil Tarrant talks with property investor Henry Tilly about the unpredictable nature of the property market and how aspiring investors can be best equipped for success.
Henry shares the story behind his relatively new entrance into the property investment scene in which his measured yet resourceful approach to property acquisition has enabled him to quickly build a diverse investment portfolio capable of weathering the market.
The two discuss the ups and downs of the property market post-Easter and take a look at whether the growth exhibited by the market renders the current time a favourable market for investors.

    Is cash still king?

    Is cash still king?

The number of mortgage-free buyers is rising, and the trend is revealing some surprising market shifts.

On this episode of The Smart Property Investment Show, host Phil Tarrant talks with Julie Toth, chief economist at Property Exchange Australia (PEXA), about the growing prevalence of cash buyers.

Unencumbered by the usual trappings of steep mortgage rates, Julie explains that cash buyers are increasingly setting their sights on inner-city locations where rental demand is high.

The duo also discuss the evolving preferences of cashed up downsizers, and mull over the potential implications on local property prices.

THE PURE PROPERTY PODCAST: Zeroing in on Perth

THE PURE PROPERTY PODCAST: Zeroing in on Perth

One capital city is dominating headlines when it comes to property investment. But does it live up to the hype?

In this episode of The Pure Property Podcast, co-hosts Phil Tarrant and Paul Glossop are joined by Aaron Findlay, buyer’s agent at Pure Property Investment, to zero in on the city that seems to be on every investors’ mind – not to mention in many a newspaper headline – Perth.

The trio discuss why the Western Australian capital has received so much attention in recent months, and offer perspectives on the current opportunities that exist, as well as the pitfalls of overhyped investment locations.

Aaron shares some insights into his property journey, emphasising the importance of cash flow management in sustaining and growing a portfolio.

The trio also trade thoughts on how diversification plays into all of the strategies covered in this episode.

The ABCs of property investing through an SMSF

The ABCs of property investing through an SMSF

Recent tightening in lending criteria has made SMSF property investment more appealing – if investors know how to navigate it.

With a little extra time off in April, Australians are given to pondering their work/life balance, and planning for a retirement to support their goals. On this episode, host Phil Tarrant is joined by  Julie Brennan of Finni Mortgages to break down an option for property investing that seems complex but, with the right advice, is able to be navigated by any investor.

Julie explains how the landscape for SMSF property investment has seen considerable changes over the past decade, with various financial regulatory frameworks impacting its popularity. The duo discuss the current potential for an SMSF to serve as a vehicle for property investment, offering both diversification and control over one’s retirement savings.

They also share some thoughts about the transformation taking place in traditional banking, and why more and more home buyers are choosing to get help from a mortgage broker in securing a loan.

Been listening for years. Really helpful tips, interesting guests and great hosts.

Hmmm… mixed feelings

This podcast feels like a paid platform for buyers agents to drum up business.

A disclaimer at the end says, “Guests appearing on this podcast may have a commercial relationship”, but I suspect all guests are paying to be interviewed.

Sure, the info is still good but its all very surface level.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for years, but the latest episode with Lachlan Vidler from Atlas Property felt a bit icky and promotional. That guy reminds me of a politician.

I have no doubt Phil would only do business with honest businesses, but if he hasn’t used them himself, how can he guarantee they’re decent?
