Wonderful, informative, entertaining and erudite
I've found The History of Exploration to be really outstanding: lucid, detailed and illuminating, underpinned by a quiet but lively wit. Lamothe explores hidden chapters of history about which I know little, bringing them alive with his narration while acknowledging and exploring the sources he's reading. It's something of a niche topic but it opens up onto endless others. Lamothe also has a great, warm reading voice, with an appealing pace and cadence. I can only hope this podcast continues for a very long time to come.
Very high standard
I have only listened do far to the earlier episodes which describe Mediterranean and wider European exploration in ancient times, introducing what I will no longer be able to think of as obscure ancient history in an exceptionally confident and memorable style. I certainly mean to continue with this podcast and encourage anyone who likes histort or just good st ories to try this
Intruiging and engaging.
I recommend this to anyone who has an interest in history, exploration, or just humanity. Every episode is engaging and unravells stories that everyone should know.
Listen to the historical storeis and let your imagination soar.
