268 // The End Of An Era ~ Goodbye to The Real Her Project Podcast

Today is the last episode ever of The Real Her Project and I spend it reminiscing about the 5+ years hosting and running this show, the ups and downs, how I have changed and what's next.
Thank you to everyone who has ever listened to this show.  I don't take it lightly how much it was a privilege to be in your ears and I hope my podcast brought you as much light as it did for me over the years x

267 // Innovating & Changing the Landscape In Women’s Swimwear with Amber Boyers

267 // Innovating & Changing the Landscape In Women’s Swimwear with Amber Boyers

Today on the podcast I am joined by Amber Boyers who is the Founder and Creative Director of Baiia, an Australian sustainable swimwear brand and home to the world’s first 3-piece sculpting Wrapsuit & 4-piece Bikini.  I have known Amber for a long time and it was a dream to have her on the podcast to dig deep into the ups and downs of entrepreneurship and what it means to innovate in a ‘saturated industry’.

When I say this episode is JAM PACKED with everything you want out of a podcast, I mean it!  Inspirational, motivational, raw and honest, Amber takes us through the journey of starting Baiia, some of the challenges she faced early on and how she scaled it from just herself to a 12 person team at the time of recording.

We went deep on the many identity shifts that occur through the journey of entrepreneurship.  To doing everything on your own to becoming a leader of a team.  It isn’t something we are born knowing how to do, we have to evolve.  There is also the re learning that hustling or working more isn’t necessarily the answer when it comes to growing a business.  Despite what we have been told, sometimes the best thing we can do for our brand is find balance.

I also asked Amber to share how she came to create her innovative wrap suits and how important it is to push the edges in a highly competitive industry.  Amber mentions that where she is now isn’t how she started and constantly catering to what was missing in the industry has lead her to push the edges and create something unique.

We finally spoke about how she navigated Covid and how she used it as an opportunity to grow rather than fall behind.  All the lessons she learnt in the past, helped her to make the most of the time and scale.

This episode is great for any business owner who is looking to grow and scale.  This is more than a conversation about swimwear, it’s a personal development discussion and insights from a founder who has ridden the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship and come out the other side better for it.  I know you will love it.

266 // Raising the Bar & Leading the Way in the Creative Industry with Jac Lee

266 // Raising the Bar & Leading the Way in the Creative Industry with Jac Lee

Today on the podcast I am joined by Jac Lee who is a beautiful photographer and host of the shots fired podcast.  This episode was recorded a few months ago now but I initially reached out to Jac because I was seeing her EVERYWHERE!  Working with some big names in the space and with stunning imagery and creative concepts I knew I had to have her on the pod.

The thing I find most inspiring about Jac is her journey to photography.  This isn’t a ‘I studied it in school and knew all my life this was for me’ kind of vibe.  Through a series of events that didn’t make sense at the time, Jac eventually found herself thriving in the photography space and despite the curveballs and challenges she has faced, she is thriving!

We spoke about the early days in her career and how important it is to just get started, do random stuff for free, hone your craft and figure out who you are creatively.  Jac has a tonne of advice for aspiring photographers or people wanting to sharpen their skillset in the industry.

We also spoke about the creative process, coming up with concepts and giving yourself boundaries in this industry.  Finding balance is difficult for anyone who loves being creative but Jac shared a few ways she manages her time to ensure she is showing up and doing her best work.

This episode is great for aspiring photographers or anyone wanting to up their game in the freelance or creative space.  Jac is a leader in the field and has a wealth of knowledge to ensure you are continuously unleveling in the field.

264 // A Introduction To Kinesiology & The Mind / Body Connection with Courtney Rixon

264 // A Introduction To Kinesiology & The Mind / Body Connection with Courtney Rixon

Today on the podcast I am joined by the lovely Courtney Rixon who is a Kinesiologist to talk all about the modality itself and the amazing range of benefits, as well as the mind / body connection.

Our conversation started with Courtney sharing how she got into the world of Kinesiology.  Even though it is more mainstream now, it wasn’t always that way.  Courtney luckily fell in love with this work from the age of 17 and slowly worked her way into owning her own business.  We spoke a lot about the pressures people feel to find their perfect career and how following her heart first led Courtney to this fulfilling career.

Courtney also talked us through how Kinesiology works and how unresolved subconscious patterns can lay dormant in the body, and how our body can be our biggest communicator.  I have done this work before and it’s amazing what your body knows before your mind even figures it out.  With so much noise and pressure and stress in our everyday lifestyle, Courtney walks us through how a session like this works and what to expect.

Finally, we touched on how to integrate a lot of these techniques in our day to day life.  Self care is normally the last box to tick off in our never ending to do lists but by creating a better relationship with our body, and our mind too, we can start to free ourselves of the thoughts that hold us back and move closer to our personal goals.

This episode is for anyone who is interested in this type of work or a business in Kinesiology.  It’s also great for anyone who wants to work through some deep subconscious believes, connect more with their body and bring the power back into their own hands.
