From new lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat, this BAFTA-winning series follows the adventures of the Doctor, the mysterious traveler who, with his human companions, journeys throughout all of time and space, facing a variety of foes and righting wrongs. This latest series, now in HD, sees Matt Smith's debut as the Doctor alongside a new traveling companion, the enigmatic Amy Pond (Karen Gillan). Together they explore sixteenth century Venice, France during the 1890s, and the United Kingdom in the far future, now an entire nation floating in space.

Fabulous beginning!

David Tennant was always going to be a hard act to follow - for a whole generation of fans, he IS the Doctor - but in his debut outing, Matt Smith does the impossible, and quickly relegates the 10th Doctor to a fond memory as he takes control of the 11th! The story - 20 minutes to save the Earth, etc etc - is secondary here to the new Doctor finding himself and his new companion, Amy Pond. There's a wonderful feeling here of the unexpected, just like when William Hartnell changed into Patrick Troughton. Great lines, the Doctor doing the impossible, Amy being, frankly, gorgeous - bides well for the future. Only let down is a new and mediocre arrangement of the classic theme (this is the worst version since the 7th Doctor's) and the change to the titles is a bit meh. Long live the 11th Doctor! Oh, and "Fish Custard!"

Its Gonna Be Fantastic

I don't think there are any words to describe just how fantastic this new season is. Already the first episode had me hooked from the first scene right to the end credits. The new Tardis set looks amazing and Matt Smith plays a very convincing Doctor. Definitely not a season to miss!

a change of face

a lot of people thought that the end of David Tennant was the end of the series but that is not so! Matt Smith does brilliantly, I think, as the next doctor, especially since there was so much pressure on him to be as good as David Tennant was and, lets face it, David Tennant was the ultimate Doctor Who!
