While studying English at Cambridge, Ophelia Marsh begins an affair with charismatic lecturer Michael Callaghan. When he suddenly disappears, she tracks him to his family home in Ireland.
Learning that his father has taken ill, Michael returns to Cambridge and discovers that his dad received a mysterious visitor. Back in Knockdara, Ophelia is given a dreadful warning from a psychic.
