The agents investigate the murder of a city official, a crime that doesn't appear humanly possible. Scully receives a phone call from her brother and thinks deeply about giving her child up for adoption.

Seeking to prevent any further attacks, Mulder and Scully attempt to communicate with the comatose bomber responsible for an explosion at an art gallery showing potentially offensive work.

Powerful enemies appear to have been awakened by Mulder and Scully's investigation with internet show host Tad O'Malley. As people across the country become gravely ill, Scully seeks a cure and someone from the past returns.
