The Americans

Cold War drama series following two KGB agents posing as Americans in 1980s Washington DC. Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings seem like any other American married couple, but they are actually highly trained Soviet spies, who must kidnap a high-ranking defector and return him to Russia.

Philip and Elizabeth are given an urgent task to plant a bug in Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger's office, but they risk exposure when an unwilling maid of the Weinberger home refuses to cooperate.

Elizabeth's lover helps her and Phillip find the widow and baby of a dead agent to get them away from the FBI and back to the Soviet Union; Gabriel's replacement arrives with some important information.

When US President Ronald Reagan is shot, Elizabeth and Phillip are up against the clock, and the FBI, to try to find out who is responsible and whether they need protecting.

A crucial agent crumbles under emotional distress and threatens to topple a valuable network of KGB informants; Professionally, Philip and Elizabeth are tasked with infiltrating the FBI's new communications encryption system.

A mole hunt within the KGB causes suspicion amongst allies and shatters trust within the Jennings' marriage; Stan's plan to keep his mole safe puts her at even greater risk of discovery.
