Brennan returns to the Jeffersonian after becoming involved in a deeply personal murder investigation. An FBI investigation begins, when Booth goes missing.

It is discovered that a member of the team is withholding vital information, concerning Booth's disappearance and his possible whereabouts.

As Brennan and Booth settle back into life at the FBI, a body is discovered at a fish farm. The sinister find leads them to an organ harvesting ring.

When the remains of a real estate agent are found in a forest, apparently destroyed by coyote-wolf hybrids, Brennan enlists the help of a distinguished forensic anthropologist to help crack the case.

The team receive a surprise visit from FBI Agent Abbie Mills and Ichabod Crane on Halloween. They have travelled from Sleepy Hollow to reclaim a headless body, the case of which is currently being investigated by Brennan and the rest of the team.

The team are drawn into a highly sensitive murder investigation when a US senator's body is run over by a street sweeper.
